It could not have happened to a nicer person: "Nickolas Pedro". By Chief Strong-Blood (Allan H.F. Palmer Ex-PC 2209 Bermuda Police Service)

I when I worked in Bermuda, my opinion about the members of the Caucasians Nation, was not yet matured; It is now. I did not associate, work or socialize with Caucasians that lives in my home Country. St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

However, when I got to Bermuda, I began to associate with a few Caucasians. I was supervised by, Mr. Martin Weeks, while he was Just an inspector. I found Mr. Weeks to be respectful, fair and professional. (This recommendations of Mr. Weeks has nothing to do with the matter between him and Mr. David Greenidge who is a highly discipline, extremely intelligent and straight forward man. A man whom I respect).

I was also supervised by Insp. Linder Perry, a Caucasians woman whom, I found to be fair, professional and very cordial. Let me also say here, my interaction with Mr. Weeks or Ms. Perry in no way, impacts the way I feel about the nation to which they belong: The Caucasians Nation.

I also had the opportunity to work under the supervision of Nicklaus Pedro. He was the watch inspector, for the team I worked with. Nicklaus Pedro was a 'slick one'. He was very skilled in the art of, weaponizing duties. He used the duties in an oppressive and prejudicial manner; and was slick enough to get away with it.

Nickolas Pedro's demands upon those of us, he supervised was not unlawful, it was not unprofessional; but it was laced with spite and hated which baffled most of us. However, no one could complain; for everything he asked us to do, was within the Job description and were duties that should be performed.

Let me qualify what I mean by giving you an example. There was a nightclub on I think it was Barnaby Street, in the City of Hamilton. It was normal for patron of the nightclub to park their cars along that road in front of the Club. This was 1:00 am or 2:00 am. When the City Hamilton was asleep. Except for those people who were out club and bar hopping. The Park cars did not pose any threat or inconveniences to pedestrian or vehicle traffic. Police often patrol the area to ensure all was well.

When Nicklaus Pedro was the watch inspector on the nights when the club was in session, he never found a problem with the parked cars on regular nights, when the Club was open for business; however, the park cars always became a problem that must get the immediate attention, from the police on partol; Only when:
  • The temperature fell to a point where it was very cold
  • Whenever it was raining.
  • If it was a cold and rainy night.

It was only when the weather conditions were bad, that Inspector Pedro saw the illegally parked cars on Barnaby Street as a problem that need immediate police attention. His instructions to the Sgt. was always to let the units go out and ticket those cars. Never when there were good or fair weather.
What was most interesting was, the inspector will later visit the station, with a proud smile on his face, his way of rubbing salt in the wound. That tells the whole story. My actions were prejudicial and spiteful but there is nothing you can do about it. As he trotted around the Hamilton Police Station, with that proud look of what he had accomplished plastered all over his face. Other than for those times, you did not know, Pedro was the watch inspector.

That was just one example, of how Mr. Pedro weaponzed assignments or duties. There are many more examples that I could write about. But I am sure this example gives you an Idea of what I mean.

In my 14 years as a police officer, Nicholas Pedro was the only person I know, who weaponized police duties. I am not saying no other senior police officers, have ever done this. What I am saying however, is I don't know of it.

So when Nicholas Pedro was found to weaponize a Search Warrant, to be used against Robert Butterfield, Former Superintendent of Police Nicholas Pedro's only intent was to destroy the career of Sgt. Mark Monk and PC Robert Butterfield, both of whom I knew very well and have worked with.

I was not surprised by Mr. Pedro's actions. If Nickolas Pedro, as an inspector, with the Bermuda Police Service, was so spiteful and vindictive to us, who did not do him anything, or threatened his authority. What would he have done to Robert Butterfield? It was Superintendent Nicholas Pedro intent, to get back at Robert Butterfield; for stopping him while he violated COVID 19 Curfew.

All I can say is Robert Butterfield is and was extremely lucky. For it was ex-Superintendent of Police Nicholas Pedro's primary intent, to destroy Robert Butterfield's policing career; while Sgt. Monk would have been collateral damage; and Ex-Superintendent of Police Nicholas Pedro had no problem with that.......

Old people say: "what ain't meet you; will one day catch up with you." So when I discovered, that Mr. Nicholas Pedro's vindictive actions finally back fired and eventually caught up with him I said to myself: Old people know exactly what they are speaking about.
